Sealed Air celebrates entry into Costa Rica


Sealed Air has held an open day to announce the company’s plans for its new operation in Costa Rica. Companies such as Allergan Medical, Baxter Healthcare, Hospira, Establishment Labs and Precision Concepts attended.


The Vice President of the Republic, Luis Liberman, officially welcomed the new firm, which is located in the Global Duty Free Zone in Barreal, Heredia, and takes over the former ATE facility.


Fabio Osório, Sales Director for Latin America and head of the new Sealed Air operation in Costa Rica, said that with the acquisition of ATE, Sealed Air expects to realise significant growth, "We believe that there is significant opportunity to expand the range of products and services offered in Costa Rica.”


"We will supply the market with the highest quality medical trays and we are looking forward to working with the customer base to understand future needs,” he continued.


VP and General Manager of Sealed Air's Medical Application Business, Teresa L. Preskar, stated, "We are very excited to be part of the excellent business environment in Costa Rica. We are proud to supply many of the multinational companies who are present in Costa Rica in other parts of the world and we are looking forward to serving them and gaining new customers in this market.”


The life sciences cluster in Costa Rica groups together approximately 40 multinational companies, including leading medical device producers and providers of key services and parts for the industry. Exports of life science products have grown 474% in the last decade and accounted for 24% of all Costa Rican exports (US$10.361 million) in 2011.
